British Columbia Impact

Globally at-risk ecosystems that are ranked as Globally Vulnerable, Imperiled & Collapsed.

At-risk ecosystems that are endemic to Canada, and not documented in the US.

Ontario, BC and Alberta have the highest number of at-risk ecosystems.

Many of the ecosystems provide habitat for many species of global and national conservation concern.
All ecosystems, including at-risk ecosystems, are poorly documented in Canada, particularly in northern and eastern Canada.

In eastern Canada many at-risk ecosystems are associated with prairies, savannahs and alvars. In western Canada at-risk ecosystems include sub-alpine and sagebrush associations.
